Reading refund lag without blaming the carrier first

When refunds feel slow, the carrier is an easy villain. Lag boards often tell a quieter story: the parcel sat scanned in the returns cage for a day, then waited on a finance batch for two more.

We mark three timestamps on every timeline board: customer drop-off or collection, warehouse receipt scan, and refund authorisation. Gaps between the first two point to logistics or cage capacity. Gaps between the last two point to internal release rules.

Print the board large enough for the warehouse huddle. If the finance team only sees a PDF in email, the lag debate never leaves merchandising.

Bring last season’s timestamps to a Seasonal Returns Map workshop if you want the whole peak calendar marked before Black Friday or January clearance.
